Goodnight Uncle

It still feels like a dream but I'm grateful you lived a good life. My favourite uncle, the best of them all. I will never forget that smile that comes from your core and light your whole face. You were a wonderful person, a kind and considerate human. You left a big void that will be difficult to fill. My mum's favourite brother, I am grateful to God I experienced you.
Auntie, I'm sorry for your loss, may God grant you and the children the fortitude to bear this loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will be greatly missed.

A Good man's Transition.

Uncle Sunday was a very pleasant man, caring and kind. He knew the essence of family and deeply cared for his, never stopping to extend his love.
From the days of dating Adetayo, my darling wife, he never failed to care about my us, I remember that at a particular period that I was in Atlanta, he not only ensured that I visited his house, he personally came to pick me, insisting I must meet his family. Such a wonderful man!
I regret not doing all to see him when he visited Nigeria about three years back!
May his soul rest in peace, Uncle Sunday, you will be deeply missed.

In Loving Memory of UncleGrandpa

UncleGrandpa, as we fondly call you. Losing you still feels unreal. It’s hard to accept that someone so full of warmth, kindness, and God’s grace is no longer with us. You were more than an uncle to me — you never saw me as just an in-law, but loved me like your own daughter. That kind of love is a reflection of God’s heart, and I will always cherish it.

You carried a calm and Christlike presence wherever you went — always pleasant, always kind, always welcoming. You made others feel seen, valued, and loved. I thank God that I was one of them.

Your life was a beautiful testimony of gentleness and humility, and your memory will live on in the love you gave so freely. Though my heart aches, I find peace in God’s promise that this is not the end.

“The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.”
— Isaiah 57:1–2 (NIV)

Rest well in the arms of our Savior, Uncle. You are deeply loved and will forever live in our hearts.

With love and gratitude,
Hami xx

A Heart of Gratitude to My Typical Father

I took a deep thought of what I have seen and those joyous feelings of the one I took as my typical father, Late Mr. Sunday Omonira.
Not just that I knew him, my Dad says a lot about him on how they grew up till the moment he lost him. I could see how much he misses him
I , Deborah Omonira, show my condolence.
I wish the whole family long life, peace and happiness.

A courageous man, unfazed to speak truth to power, has just departed.

Sunny, you loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. The cruel, cold hand of death did not get the victory; you did, as you entered into eternal life with Christ our Savior. We miss you buddy, everyday! Segun & Funke.

“Uncle Sunny .... More Than a Memory”

You know… they say time heals all wounds.
But standing here today, thinking about my uncle, I’m not so sure that’s true.
Some wounds just settle into our hearts.
They become part of the story we carry.

Uncle was… something else.
Not just a relative, not just a familiar face at family events—
He was that steady presence.
The one with the firm handshake and the warm smile.
The one who could make you laugh without even trying.
The one who always had a story, a lesson, or a joke tucked in his back pocket.

I can still hear him calling my name in that way only he did.
Still see him at the barbecue, standing by the grill like he was hosting heaven’s banquet.
He had a way of making people feel seen.
He didn’t need a microphone to be heard—his life was loud with love, quiet strength, and faith that didn’t need to be announced to be known.

This room right here… it’s full of his fingerprints.
His jokes… his stories… his wisdom.
Each of us is carrying a part of him.
Some in our habits. Some in our hearts.

And I’ll be honest—today hurts.
Because I miss him. We all do.
But I also feel grateful.
Because how many people can say they had an uncle who left such a mark?
Who made you feel safe, proud, and loved… just by being himself?

Uncle wasn’t just part of our past.
He’s part of our future too—
Because we’ll carry his lessons forward.
We’ll keep the laughter alive.
We’ll keep the family close, just like he always wanted.

So, this isn’t goodbye.
It’s just… “See you later, Uncle.”
And until we do… we’ll keep living in a way that would make you smile.
Because you weren’t just a memory.
You were a blessing.

My bestest Uncle.... Ifedola
